Museums Bathurst has ticked over 100,000 visitors this financial year.

With two months still remaining, the National Motor Racing Museum, Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, Bathurst Rail Museum and Chifley Home and Education Centre has already achieved their target. The 100,000th visitor walked through the doors sometime over the final weekend of the school holidays.

Mayor of Bathurst, Jess Jennings, attributed the success to the dedicated staff and quality of the displays.

“Each museum coordinator works really hard to ensure that the experience of visiting our museums is of the best quality possible, and it’s really paying off with these numbers”, he said.

“Having such high-quality displays and programs ensures our reputation remains high - not only in the tourism sector, but in the wider cultural sector.

“It shows that all the work behind the scenes to care for and share these important collections is appreciated.”

National Motor Racing Museum’s visitation consists of 90% from outside the Bathurst region, helping to boost local tourism.

Bathurst Rail Museum consists of 50% local visitation, showing the popularity of Kids Central and other offerings for the Bathurst community.
