The team from the Bathurst Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) are on a mission to find new homes for the cats and dogs currently in their care.

Mayor Cr Jess Jennings said with BARC currently home to 52 dogs and 43 cats the team from BARC are looking to use the Bathurst Winter Festival as an opportunity to capture the hearts of festival goers looking for a new family friend.

“We have thousands of people through the festival precinct every day over the school holidays.  It’s a perfect opportunity to highlight the animals we currently have in our care and potentially reach a new audience who may be wanting to adopt a cat or dog.

“BARC staff members will be on site with a range of information about the animals at BARC and will be able to make appointments for those wanting a meet and greet.

“On Sunday 21 July Council, through BARC with the assistance from the NSW Pet Registry will provide free microchipping between 9am to 3pm.  Microchipping and pet registration are an important part of responsible pet ownership, and make it easy for our teams to get in touch if your animal ends up in our care,” Cr Jennings said.

Staff from BARC will be at the Winter Festival on:

  • Wednesday 10 July
  • Thursday 11 July
  • Friday 12 July
  • Saturday 13 July
  • Wednesday 17 July
  • Sunday 21 July.
