Council has engaged Egis Oceania Pty Ltd to complete an Employment Lands Strategy for the city of Bathurst.

Employment lands are the lands zoned either commercial/business or industrial under our Local Environmental Plan – so lands within the CBD, at the neighbourhood shopping centres, at the bulky goods/specialised retail precincts and the industrial estates.

Mayor of Bathurst Cr Jess Jennings said the Strategy aims to look at in the simplest terms is whether we have enough land zoned for these purposes as we grow to 56,000 persons and if not how much more land will the City need and where is it best located.

“The Strategy will review previous studies including the Bathurst CBD and Bulky Goods Business Development Strategy 2011 and will inform an update to the Bathurst Local Strategic Planning Statement, the 20-year land use planning vision for the Region.”

“As the first step in the process, Egis Oceania representatives will be in Bathurst in the first week of June collecting data and imagery about buildings and premises located within the City’s employment zones.”

“Opportunities for community engagement will be available later in the Strategy process and these will be promoted to the community,” Cr Jennings said.

Preparation of the Strategy is being supported by grant funding received from the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
