With the assistance of NSW Spatial Services, Council has engaged aerial 3D specialists to capture new data to extend the Bathurst Digital Twin.

The Bathurst Spatial Digital Twin is a collaboration between NSW Spatial Services and Bathurst Regional Council and is the first for a NSW regional Council.

The centrepiece of the project is a 3D digital representation of approximately 400hectares of the Bathurst CBD at a resolution of 2cm. This fine resolution provides a picture image of the buildings and streetscapes of the Bathurst CBD which is being used to host a number of initiatives. For example, within the Bathurst Digital Twin, you can locate bus stops, disabled parking spaces, EV charging stations and off-leash dog areas.

Importantly, it is also being used to assist with the planning and approval process with 3D drawings of future proposed developments able to be layered into the digital model.

Council is expanding the Digital Twin over the South Bathurst area in early 2025. Council will also look to expand the digital twin across other parts of the city as funding permits.

It is anticipated that the flyover (duration of about 1.5 to 2 hours) to capture the imagery for the South Bathurst area will be undertaken in January/February 2025, as weather conditions permit. The expanded digital twin will then be made available later in the year.
