Have Your Say: Community Strategic Plan
Published on 29 November 2024
Bathurst Regional Council is set to update Council’s Community Strategic Plan (CSP).
Reviewed following each Council election, the CSP is the longer-term community action plan adopted by Council.
Mayor Cr Robert Taylor highlighted that community consultation is a core part of the document’s drafting process, emphasising the importance of the CSP acting as not only Council’s but, more importantly, the community's vision for the future of our region.
“The Community Strategic Plan is a fundamental pillar of our vision here at Council. We ensure that the plan reflects more than just our objectives, but more so the priorities and needs of everyone who calls Bathurst home.
“We are eager to hear from residents of our wider community. We want to learn what you love about Bathurst, what needs to change and what you believe are the key priorities for the future of our region.
“Your feedback is a crucial component in the drafting process of our new Community Strategic Plan” he said.
The Mayor thanked those who have already taken part, namely the student attendees at Bathurst’s recent Careers Expo who shared their thoughts and priorities for our city’s future.
“It is greatly appreciated that we’ve already had a large sum of the community take part and provide a response.
“I'd especially like to thank the Year 10 students from our region’s local high schools who shared their Bathurst visions with us at last month’s careers expo. We hear you, and we will do our part to take on this feedback” he commented.
Councillors will also take part in the drafting process through a collaborative visioning session scheduled to take place in December.
Reflecting survey responses and Councillor insights, the draft document will be shared with the community in the new year before it is formally adopted by Council in June 2025.
