Renovation works on the Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium commenced in the first week of February.

In late 2024, Council was fortunate to be awarded $400,000 of Australian Government funding through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program to aid the project.

On Friday 14 February, an official media statement by the Mayor of Bathurst, Cr Robert Taylor, and Member for Calare, Andrew Gee MP, will be taking place at the Sports Stadium to announce the acceptance of the grant funding.

Who: Bathurst Mayor Cr Robert Taylor and Member for Calare Andrew Gee MP

When: 12pm, Friday 14 February

Where: Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium, 34 Alexander St, West Bathurst

Mayor Cr Robert Taylor remarked that this funding is welcomed by Council, allowing further aspects of the stadium’s renovation to be addressed.

“Upgrades to the Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium have been needed for quite some time. It’s rewarding to have received this local government funding as it permits Council to address the wear and tear of the building.

“This facility is fundamental to our community’s sporting and recreational activities. The restoration works taking place this year will ensure it remains serviceable to our growing community for years to come” Mayor Taylor noted.

With the support of the LRCI funding, upgrades at the stadium are to include:

  • Replacement roof,
  • New ventilation (wall mounted louvres),

$1.15m of funding was additionally granted to Basketball NSW under the State Government's Level the Playing Field Program, this is supporting further upgrades of:

  • Refurbished amenities,
  • New sports floor, and
  • New grandstand for the show court.

The schedule for the work is as follows:

  • Primary roof replacement and amenities upgrade to be completed by early March.

  • Sports floor works to commence early April, completed by mid-May.

  • Associated works and finishing items to be completed by June.

Local Bathurst contractors, DNA Roofing and Sheds, and Easyline Constructions, will be onsite the first week of February to commence the project. Basketball NSW is managing delivery of all of the works.
