Practice your best selfie pose as Museums Bathurst will once again be participating in International Museum Selfie Day on Wednesday 15 January.

Escape the summer heat and explore Bathurst’s fascinating and diverse museums with FREE ENTRY to the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, Bathurst Rail Museum, Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, Chifley Home and Education Centre, National Motor Racing Museum, Bathurst Historical Society and Miss Traill's House and Garden.

With extended opening hours at three of the museums, there will be plenty of time across the day to see the incredible cultural offerings of the city.

Bathurst Mayor, Cr Robert Taylor, commended the event for encouraging engagement with the arts and cultural services both locally and internationally, remarking that the annual Selfie Day sees mass visitation at all museums across the Bathurst Region.

“Established in 2014, International Museum Selfie Day is celebrated by hundreds of museums across the globe, with the aim to raise awareness of and encourage visitors to actively engage in local museums by taking creative selfies and posting them to social media.

“Museums Bathurst has been participating since 2017, with well over 2,700 people visiting during Selfie Day 2024. Over 80% of these were from Bathurst and the surrounding areas, showing the community’s love for the event.

“You can get face-to-face with a T.rex, marvel at the largest model train display in Australia, immerse yourself in art, enter a home frozen in time, soak in the atmosphere of racing legends, or discover the amazing stories that made the Bathurst Region what it is today” said Mayor Cr Robert Taylor.

Museums Bathurst is encouraging locals to visit all museums on the day and post their selfies with the hashtag #MuseumSelfieBathurst on Facebook and/or Instagram.
