Paint with ya mates in the school holidays

Learn how to paint your own Mufassa the bird with Aboriginal Artist, Tracey Woolfe lone woolfe art.

Council have received funding from the NSW Government Regional Youth Holiday Break Program to coordinate two paint and sip workshops on Tuesday 1 October 2024 for First Nations young people aged 12-19 years.

The workshops are free and include materials, catering and transport if required.

Registrations are essential and spots are limited to 20 participants per workshop.

Australia Day Awards | Nominations Open

Bathurst Region Heritage Plan

Council’s Strategic Planning Section is preparing the next update to the Bathurst Region Heritage Plan. The Plan guides heritage management within the Bathurst Region and establishes the key strategic priorities and actions for heritage management over a period of 4 years. The plan is due to be updated in 2025.

Council is seeking to survey a wide range of community members to gauge their opinion and knowledge on heritage matters.

Survey submissions close on 4th November 2024. A workshop will be held on the evening of 19th November. RSVP is essential through council@bathurst.nsw.gov.au or via the survey.

 

Pet-oween at BARC

The Bathurst Animal Rehoming Centre will be from 10am until 1pm on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October for Pet-oween. Come and see all the cats and dogs available for adoption.

 

Community Tree Planting Day

Sunday, 29 September

Commencing at 10am at Hereford Street Open Space Reserve, just downstream of the low-level bridge, the event welcomes adults and kids alike to participate in planting native trees, shrubs, and grasses. The plantings will not only provide important habitat for local wildlife including native birds but also improve the health and function of this important urban waterway. 

After the planting activities, the Bathurst Regional Council will host a free barbecue lunch for all participants. 

Parking is available in Hereford Street, Open Space Reserve. Four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle access to the planting site is ONLY permissible for volunteers with a disability. This access is available via Murdoch Place.

Household Chemical Cleanout

The annual Household Chemical Cleanout will be held on Sunday 20 October 2024, 10.00am – 1.00pm at the Cooke Hockey Complex Carpark. This cleanout event allows Bathurst residents to dispose of a range of household hazardous materials for free (household quantities only - up to 20L or 20kg).

The following items are accepted:

Garden chemicals

Pool chemicals

Household cleaners

Hobby chemicals

Poisons

Batteries

Paint

Motor oils, fluids, and fuels

Fluoro lights

Gas bottles

Fire extinguishers

Smoke detectors

2024/25 Sporting Association Grants

Each year Bathurst Regional Council provides a grant scheme to assist local sporting organisations to undertake specific works or purchase equipment for the advancement of sport in the Bathurst Region.

Sporting organisations that are affiliated with the Bathurst District Sport and Recreation Council are eligible to apply for these grants. A total of $10,000 has been allocated to this scheme.

Applications must be submitted by 10am Tuesday 24 September 2024.
