Overnight Pens Closed at BARC
Due to an influx of almost 30 new animals left in the overnight pens over the weekend, the decision has been made to temporarily cease the operation of the overnight pens.
These new animals have increased the facility's already overcrowded status, with 80 dogs and more than 50 cats, many of which are aggressive and require intense care.
The decision to temporarily cease the operation of the overnight pen is regretted but brought about by the extent of irresponsible pet ownership in the community. Council needs to protect the welfare of our staff, and the animals that are already in care.
Mobile Veterinary Clinic
The Animal Welfare League is bringing their mobile veterinary clinic to Bathurst.
This is a fantastic opportunity to access free microchipping and vaccination for your dog or cat. Council staff will also be on hand to answer questions about responsible pet ownership and registration.

Community Tree Planting Day
Why not lend us a hand on Sunday 24 November 2024 to help plant native plants along the banks of Queen Charlotte's Vale Creek?
Commencing at 10am off Russell Street near Torpys Bridge, adults and kids alike can help plant native trees, shrubs and grasses that, once mature, will provide habitat for local wildlife and improve the health and ecological function of this important urban waterway. Council will host a free BBQ lunch afterwards.
No experience is needed, and all plants and equipment are provided. Please bring water, sunscreen and a hat, and wear suitable shoes and clothing for being outdoors.
To ensure safe hygiene practices, we ask that you please bring along your own gardening gloves. Council will provide hand washing facilities.
The event will go ahead in light rain, so please bring a wet weather jacket just in case.
All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult carer.

• intermittent stopping
All road users are advised to follow the directions of signs and traffic control and slow down on approach. Resident and business access will be maintained during this work.

Rural Cemetery Reforms
Council is seeking community feedback on the recent NSW Government’s Cemetery Reform that has impacted its ability to provide new burial opportunities within the region’s active rural cemeteries.
At its Ordinary Meeting held 16 October 2024, Council resolved in part to temporarily suspend further reservations to the region’s six active rural cemeteries until it determined an outcome following public consultation, and to commence consultation with village groups concerning the possible closure of selected rural cemeteries within the Bathurst Region for future reservations.
Council is seeking comment from residents within the rural community on this important issue.
Submissions can be submitted via the feedback on YourSay Bathurst or can be sent to The General Manager, Bathurst Regional Council, PMB 17, Bathurst NSW 2795, or council@bathurst.nsw.gov.au.
Submissions will be received up until 10am Tuesday, 3 December 2024
