Bat Night @ Kings Parade Bathurst

Dive into the captivating world of flying-foxes at Bat Night @ Kings Parade on Friday 15 March 2024!

Come join us at Bathurst's historic Kings Parade to discover more about these special native megabats and learn why they're so important for our Australian bushland forests!

Explore the secrets of flying-fox ecology and find out how these important winged creatures play a big role in our environment. Hear about the efforts of Bathurst Regional Council and WIRES Central West in saving this threatened species and find out how you can get involved or show your support!

Our two-hour event includes an educational talk by flying-fox expert Dr Peggy Eby from the University of New South Wales Centre for Ecosystem Science. Put on your best bat wings and grab a happy snap with our flying-fox mascots Bruce and Batty from Eaton Gorge Theatre Company. Take a stroll on a guided wildlife tour of our seasonal flying-fox colony, and don't miss the breathtaking moment when the flying-foxes take off at sunset!

Feel free to bring your own picnic and enjoy the flyout spectacle to wrap up the evening. If you can, bring along some binoculars to get a close-up look at these incredible flying-foxes!

This event is free, welcoming to all, and perfect for families. No need to book – just come and join us for an evening of flying-fox fun!
